Camping will forever hold a special place in my heart. It’s when I can be my most ratchet with no judgement. And the peacefulness of being out in nature is pure bliss.
My roommate and I went camping this last week in the Gila national forest. This was my first New Mexico camping adventure, and it was definitely one for the books.
We were able to find an underdeveloped camping area that suited all of our needs. Our campsite was free, it was right next to the Gila River, it had the perfect trees to set up our hammocks, it had a nice rock fire ring, and there was no cell service! Plus, we had lovely weather and were more isolated from other campers.
My roommate and I spent our time swimming, reading in our hammocks, cooking, and having deep talks around the fire. P.S. I read “The Haunting of Hill House” and 100% recommend reading that book. It’s suiting for an eerie fall vibe, and I am all about the fall festivities.

Hammock reading :)

Swimming & swinging :)
Everything was so peaceful during the entirety of our trip. The birds were singing, the water wasn’t too cold, the hammock was cozy, and the food was comforting. (Roasting dogs and morning coffee are my absolute faves. My friends use to call me “Glizzy Queen” while camping.) There was even slight rain one of the days and so we found comfort in our tent listening to the raindrops. I am use to the Oregon rains and feel so at home whenever it rains in New Mexico, especially since it doesn’t rain here nearly as much.

Our cutie tent !

Our lovely fire one of the nights!
The trip left me with the itch to go camping again sometime soon. I am so excited to visit some new places in New Mexico and checkout some new campsites. There’s always so much to experience in this world. My soul had been recharged!
Oh…also…my roommate and I had the perfect end to our experience. We were cruising down the interstate, on the way home, when one of my rear tires randomly had a blow out! Thankfully a nice cop helped us to change my tire (we both had never changed one before), and then we immediately drove to get my tire changed. Good times!

What was left of my tire âś…
All in all, my heart is full and I have so many more memories to cherish. I’ll keep ya’ll updated with new camping and/or adventures in my crunchy granola girl life.
Thanks for reading!
