In the midst of personal heartbreak and turmoil this last spring (2025), I felt a need to reconnect with nature. Being that I live in the desert, venturing out to water was a must.
I happened to be spending a few days in Silver City, NM - which is near the Gila wilderness area. The perfect area to spend time in nature! I looked into different places I could check out and landed on Lightfeather hot springs.. an easy hike leading to natural hot springs.
The Lightfeather hot springs were wonderful and my experience was nothing but blissfull. From the parking lot, the hike to the springs was an easy mile with only a couple small river crossings. The springs were formed well, and there were multiple of them to hop around in.
I happened to be the only person enjoying the hot springs at the time, but did run into a man that dedicates his time once a week to care for and tend the hot springs. He explained how he crafted the hot springs to work in such a way that there were parts meant to be cooler, parts meant to be hotter, and a part where you could slide around and work your way to a warmer or cooler temperature depending on how your body adjusted to the water. He also crafted a little cold plunge pool in the river behind the hot springs. It was brilliant!

I ended up spending a few hours to myself soaking, reading, meditating, and taking in all my surroundings. Definitely better than I could have ever imagined, especially being my first natural hot springs experience.
I highly recommend grabbing some snacks, grabbing a book, and soaking in some natural hot springs. Definitely a very rejuvenating, grounding experience.
