What is art? A simple question which answer means something different for every human being, as we all hold different perspectives. Art for one could be another’s trash, and vice versa.
So what is art? To me, art is a variety of things ranging from artistic creations made by living beings to the act of life itself.
In my own life, I’ve created various forms of art. I’ve created abstract drawings, crocheted blankets, worked on scrapbooking, taken film photos, etc. I’ve also been a witness to art created by other people — sculptures, paintings, music, poetry, etc. Regardless, what I consider art in these terms may not be art for another person.

So what is art? To me, art is also life itself. One being nature, two being the moving world surrounding me, and three being myself and my own life (which looks different in terms of looking at everyone’s own life). Let me briefly break these thoughts down.
- Nature is a masterpiece! There’s so much to nature from the painted skies, to the crashing ocean waves, to the colorful plants and flowers, and everything in between. Nature is always in motion. It changes from season to season & from scenery to scenery. To me, it’s an ever changing canvas.

- The moving world surrounding me is another masterpiece. The world and humans are always in motion. No action is able to be perfectly replicated, and so each day the moving world creates a new canvas. And for me, I see something new every time I enter into the world — I see the good and the bad, I see new people and old people, I experience a completely different world outside of me every day.

- My life is a masterpiece. I only know my life for what it is and am the only person that can be witness to the depths of my own life. In my eyes, my life is beautiful. It’s filled with emotions. Memories, and all the little things that bring me joy. Each day of my life is different which is its own canvas — a new canvas every day that I aid in creating.

So what is art? Again, my views on art don’t align with everyone’s views due to different perspectives. And to me, art goes deeper than what I’ve been able to describe. So I’ll leave you all with this question… what does art mean to you?
